Purpose of Position
The Assistant Training Director & Crew Training and Compliance Programs will play a pivotal role in supporting the development and implementation of crew training programs, ensuring strict alignment with EJM’s Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Additionally, they will offer supplementary instruction for both initial and recurrent training sessions for Part 135 and Part 91 crew members. This position will monitor compliance within operational systems and assist the Director of Training in regulatory and compliance tasks, including Training Center audits and crew training observations. The ideal candidate will stay informed on the latest developments in the business aviation industry, including Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs) and other relevant regulations that impact flight operations training and standardization.
This position is based at EJM's Cincinnati, OH headquarters and is not a commutable positon.
Tasks and Responsibilities
• Support the design and ongoing maintenance of curricula for mandatory crewmember training programs, aligning with current regulatory requirements and business priorities.
• Foster a positive learning atmosphere that prioritizes flight safety, exceptional service, and brand integrity.
• Provide backup instruction for initial and recurrent training sessions, both onsite at EJM and offsite.
• Assist in auditing third-party training vendors to ensure compliance with applicable regulations, FAA guidance, operating policies, and training standards.
• Collaborate with the Director of Operations to complete crew member flight training evaluations as required by the Chief Pilots office.
• Design and review crew member training scenarios for both internal instruction and crew flight training evaluations as needed.
• Coordinate with the Crew Training Department to assist in managing Check Pilots (both Contract and Company) and liaise with FAA personnel and processes.
Years of Experience
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other (KSAOs)
• Check Airman, Ground Instructor or Instructor Pilot experience with a Part 121 or part 135 or 91K air carrier, preferred.
• Line pilot qualifications, active or inactive appropriate for the position, preferred.
• Experience in developing and delivering training programs in an aviation environment.
• Experience in evaluating and/or interpreting 14 CFR Parts 61, 91, and 135 regulations, 8900.1 guidance, and other FAA produced documents – e.g., FSB Reports, Advisory Circulars, InFO, SAFO, etc.
• Two or more years’ experience with a Part 91, 121, or 135 air carrier operations management.
• Excellent project management skills required.
• Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with FAA management personnel.
• Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with EJM’s training partners – e.g., Training Center leadership, instructors, and scheduling teams.
• Superior oral and written communication skills effective at all levels or the organization.
• Ability to understand, assimilate and operate in a highly complex, interrelated environment required.
• Knowledge of internal EJM manuals and policies – e.g., General Operations Manual, Crew Training Program Manual, Flight Center Operations Manual, Operations Standards Business Manual, etc.
• Proficiency in training management systems and compliance monitoring tools.
• ATP (preferred), AGI (preferred)
