Purpose of Position

The Manager, Owner Accounting is responsible for managing the activities of the owner accounting personnel and for preparation of owner facing documents.  The Manager, Owner Accounting is responsible for the daily monitoring, completion of monthly close and reconciliation to the General Ledger.  The Manager, Owner Accounting is responsible for identifying, analyzing and implementing work that contributes to improved profitability.

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for managing activities of owner accounting staff.  This includes daily monitoring, getting involved with difficult accounts or difficult billing issues.  Fully accountable for ensuring all owner invoicing and reporting for owner financials, budgets and tax requests is completed accurately and timely. Review contracts and understand details of owner accounting and reporting processes.  Working with IT to develop customized owner reports as requested.  Search for areas of process improvement and implement solutions.  Distribute work loads among staff based on account type and flight activity.
  • Responsible for month end close activities including reconciling owner pass through expenses, reviewing aircraft profitablity, reconciling owner management fees and crew salaries, preparing financial statement fluxes and account reconciliations
  • Maintain positive working relationships with both internal and external customers.  In partnership with sales and owner services, participate in owner visits in order to answer owner's questions regarding their aircraft's fixed and operating costs, remuneration payments, impact of FAA and IRS regulations and provide advise on any cost savings opportunties.  Act as a liaison between the owner's finance team and other departments at EJM.  
  • Establishment of desk duties and standardized processes within the owner accounting group ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements (i.e FAA, IRS, SOX).  Provide measurable feedback to staff and suggestions for improved performance.  Formulate and implement employee corrective actions as needed.
  • Responsible for assuring that the company’s goals for safety, security or quality are met by continual compliance with the company Safety Management System (SMS) program and reporting through the appropriate process any safety, security or quality recommendations or non-compliance observations.
