Purpose of Position

This position is part of the IT Engineering & Architecture team responsible for Software Engineering and Architecture practices across the organization. The role involves working closely with the NetJets Technology, Business Intelligence & Analytics, and Cyber teams to design, develop, maintain, and mature our cloud platform. The scope of work includes leading our Cloud Engineering team and driving our cloud infrastructure's design, implementation, and maintenance to support our mission-critical business operations. In addition, this role includes providing tools, governance, accelerators, and frameworks for Application Engineering teams to build, deploy, and manage applications in the cloud through self-service.
The ideal candidate for this role will have robust design, development, and managerial experience in Cloud Engineering (preferably in AWS cloud) and have some multi-cloud experience. 
 

Tasks and Responsibilities

Provide leadership and direction to the Cloud Engineering organization, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement. 
•    Lead, design, develop, and maintain the company's cloud technology footprint. 
•    Work with Technology, Business Intelligence & Analytics, and Cyber teams across the company to ensure that the Cloud engineering team meets the needs of the application engineering and business teams. 
•    Stay up to date on the latest technologies and trends in Cloud engineering. 
•    Evangelize self-service adoption of cloud features and promote adoption of best practices and governance across the developer community. 
•    Develop and execute a comprehensive cloud strategy, including a multi-cloud strategy aligned with business objectives, ensuring scalability, reliability, and security of cloud services.
•    Lead the design and architecture of cloud infrastructure solutions, leveraging best practices and emerging technologies to optimize performance and cost efficiency.
•    Manage day-to-day cloud operations through engineering principles of automation and self-healing, by including monitoring, troubleshooting, and performance tuning to ensure high availability and reliability of services.
•    Drive automation initiatives to streamline cloud provisioning, configuration management, and deployment processes, utilizing standard tools such as Terraform.
•    Ensure that cloud environments are secure and compliant with industry standards and regulations, implementing robust security controls and adhering to timely remediation of issues identified by regular audits and assessments
•    Lead initiatives to continuously improve cloud infrastructure and operations, implementing best practices, evaluating new technologies, and driving innovation.
•    Provide technical and people leadership support for the cloud engineering team.
•    Adhere to all individual and team administration responsibilities, including time tracking and HR milestones. 
•    Apply modern engineering techniques (TDD, CI/CD pipelines, Automation, self-healing) to solutions developed and deployed. 
•    Collaborate with various internal teams like architecture, infrastructure operations, cyber security, and others to implement architectures that encompass broad perspectives and requirements.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other (KSAOs)

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. 
•    Proven work experience (8-10 years) in cloud engineering and software engineering, with a minimum of 2 years at a manager level.
•    Deep understanding of cloud technologies (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, OCI), infrastructure-as-code, and DevOps practices
•    Solid understanding of the complete Software Development Life Cycle
•    Experience with software engineering methodologies (Agile, Scrum, Kanban).
•    Excellent problem-solving skills and strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and present findings to non-technical stakeholders.
•    Certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect (preferred) or similar certifications with other cloud providers.
•    Exercise fluent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex technical information clearly and concisely, consumed by technical and non-technical audiences.
